Neutral Hawaiian Inspiration Board

Well hello there!  Sorry it’s been a bit quiet around the blog lately, work and all the wedding plans have been keeping me busy.

Speaking of wedding plans, the honeymoon is quickly approaching and Ryan and I couldn’t be more excited!  I did an inspiration board previously on our Hawaiian honeymoon but I came across this board on Snippet & Ink and had to share.  This board has a neutral color palate, bringing in inspiration from palm trees, hibicus, and pineapples.  I can just see myself on the beach now.

Who’s ready for Hawaii?!  2 months to go!

Have a good one!

Cookies in a Jar Favors

Hi friends!  Today I wanted to share with you a little DIY I made for my bridal shower favors, cookies in a jar!  These goodies are fairly quick to assemble and make the cutest gift or favor for any gathering.  Here are the items you will need:

  1. Jars – I used these 32 oz mason jars from Hobby Lobby which worked out perfectly!
  2. All-purpose flour
  3. Baking soda
  4. White sugar
  5. Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  6. Brown sugar
  7. Pretty ribbon of your choice
  8. Stock paper in the color of your choice to print out the directions to make the cookies.

There’s a few cookie in a jar recipes out there, I used Julia’s Best Ever Chocolate Cookies via allrecipes.com.

Directions: Mix the flour, baking soda, white sugar and chocolate chips.  Put 1/2 of the mixture into the jar, and pack down.  Place the 1/2 cup of brown sugar in next, making sure to firmly pack.  Then place the remaining mixture on top and seal with a lid.

I printed out the directions on stock paper and attached them through the ribbon.  They read as follows: Empty contents of jar into a large bowl. In separate bowl combine 3/4 cup of butter, 1 1/2 eggs, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat until creamy. Add to dry mixture. Drop by tablespoonful onto an ungreased cookie sheet, and bake in a preheated 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) oven for 8 to 10 minutes.

Finished product!  They were a huge hit, and I also heard the cookies were delicious!

Have a fabulous day!

Homemade Body Scrub for my Bridesmaids!

For my bridal shower, I wanted to make a little something special for all my bridesmaids.  So, with the help of Cyd from The Sweetest Occasion and Rhiannon from Hey Gorgeous Events, I was able to create a pretty and unique little favor for the girls to take home and enjoy.  I made Lemon Sugar Body Scrub from Cyd’s recipe; it was so simple to make and smells yummy too!

Here’s the ingredients you will need:

  1. 3 cups of sugar
  2. 3/4 cup of olive oil
  3. Juice from one lemon
  4. Zest from two lemons
  5. 2 tablespoons of vanilla extract
  6. Jars (I used these from Hobby Lobby)
  7. Pretty ribbon

Place the sugar into a mixing bowl, then add the oil and vanilla.  Mix!  Next, I zested two lemons and squeezed the juice of one lemon into the bowl.  Mix again and there you go, lemon sugar scrub!  It’s ready for the jars …

I used these super cute little labels from Hey Gorg designed by the Wedding Chicks.

It’s a great gift to give and I’m pretty sure the girls loved them 🙂

Rhiannon from Hey Gorg also has a great body scrub recipe I want to try out next time. These scrubs really make great little presents, any gal would love to receive them!

Have a fabulous day!  I’m hoping to post some pics from my bridal shower very soon so keep an eye out for those.
